Ugh....I Can't Believe It's All Over.....

Okay, I know Babs disliked this one (she hates my legs here) but I still like it. This was a life drawing of legionary from Legio X Fretensisis.

And I'm now officially DONE with the Academy of Art University! ....Seemed like I started only yesterday......so anyone got a job for me?.......yep, finally a free man.....and utterly BROKE. Wonder if I can get my old job at B&N back? I could be LORD and MASTER of BARGAIN BOOKS again!

Off to OZ.....

My new entry at Painting Potluck, this week is OZ themed, so I had to draw Dorthy. Yeah I'm a massive geek who's read the books, what of it! As much as I love Judy Garland, she's just too much a damsel in distress. Why do they do that to girls in movies? It SUCKS. Anyways, Dorthy is suppose to be considerably tougher (she grew up in Kansas for crying out loud - have you seen the size of the flies there? Freak'n HUGE), not to mention somewhat more clever.

I really tried to avoid Enrique Frenadez's excellent "Wizard of Oz" comic in my design.
This time I did clean-up traditionally and.....well it kinda sucks......something was lost from the original sketch. Damn it. If I have time this week, maybe I'll try to do a digital clean-up for some more practice.

Yeah.....I just had to start sketching ideas for a vaguely pin-up version of Glenda, the Good Witch of the North (which is all WRONG in the movies! - she's two characters damn it! - Still iconic though).

Miss Havok - Bomber Girl

Here is my final (well sort of...) of Miss Havok. Hope you all enjoy. Again, I had designed her years ago, and since then she has been sitting in my sketchbooks.....all of which burned in the fire. So hey, perfect opportunity to draw her all over again....and besides now I can draw women far better than then....
This was the bomber I had designed to go along with her and the rest of the crew....all of which I should redo at some point.....The bomber, is a combo of the B-24, 25 and of course the B-17.

Miss Havok - Today's Work....

Excuse me for posting Miss Havok so soon, I'm just trying to remind myself that I am making progress.....despite the AGONY of Clean-up work in Photoshop.....actually I just don't like clean-up.....or maybe I'm just tired. What I realize now is that I would really like to learn to do clean-up with a vector line, so much cleaner....but that pen tool is a torture device in the third ring of Hell.

Well I won't be touching her tomorrow (Wow, that sounds kinda perverted 0r dumb), as I'll be writing my THESIS paper......yah......

The Lost Legion - Part 1 - The Centurion

Another work in progress here. These are some of my development sketches for the Centurion , in command of "the Lost Legion" that I've been working on along with Minerva's Legion, the Unkown VII.This is where I left off on the design. I've a sketchy turnaround in the works, but the final design for ME....is going to require a lot more hours and sketches to really hammer it out. Just never enough TIME during assignments......damn. Oh well, I suppose that's how it is in the "Working" world....never enough time.....
As to costuming for Republican era, I think it is always tougher than Imperial times for the Legions.......all that damn chain mail, lorica hamata, still haven't found the best way to simplify it without it becoming scale mail. And don't even ask me about the Caligae sandals.....

I looked at a lot of Darwyn Cooke work this time around, but most of my own inclinations came though I think.....
