My One Night Stand With Christina Hendricks....

I was looking for something to continue exploring digital painting when I found some old sketches I did of Christina Hendricks. The caricatured version turned out better than the more realistic version. The bottom two I did with one of my palette knife brushes and the top one with a watercolor version of the palette knife - which I think was WAY less successful....

Maybe I'll try another night with Christina...

Jupiter, The Bringer of Jolly - Storyboards: 1st Pass

I keep forgetting about these boards - which is funny, cause I think they maybe some of my more successful boards. With these boards I had to board to Gustav Holst's "Jupiter, The Bringer of Jolly". I wanted to board to "Mars" - cause that would have meant more Romans (probably crushing some small freedom loving city during a ruthless siege). The other condition was to work with a Buck Roger's spaceship. Some how it turned into a story about a curious spider-spacecraft saving the Hubble Telescope from a comet shower and a dumb-founded NASA scientist. Yah - I need to get out more....

Little Miss Fashion - Digital Watercolor Experiment

I once had a hell of a time on this one character design job. The client wanted "cool chic hip fashion haute couture" - and honestly, I don't have a clue what the hell that even means. After some help from (thank the gods I knew some people in fashion who could translate for me) I did the sketches. Almost a year later I looked at the sketches and decided they were candidates for, again, some new watercolor brushes I've been trying out. Going to try out a few other techniques - I think it can still be pushed further.

Various Painting Excerises....

Lately I've had a bit more time to experiment in Photoshop - creating various palette knife brushes. I've a series of "other" paintings that I'm still working with - they are longer experiments. In the interest of sanity I'm trying some pics that are of lower size. Hopefully that will keep me from trying too many "epic" pictures.
I dug around the hard drive for some old pin-up girls - ones that I never posted - usually cause they never really worked out. After finding this one - I re-did the sketch (it could still be re-fined for a true finish) - it gave me a chance to try out the watercolor brushes that I've been tinkering with. Just to add trouble I also placed in a paper texture from Photoshops textures. Painter still seems to do a better job for that "watercolor" look - but Photoshop has an interesting slant on it still.

Storyboards: The Haunted House Tour - 1st...2nd-ish Pass...like 1.2...

COOL! They all posted! Awesome! Here's another set of boards from this last brutal semester....it was an assignment to do a story about a Haunted House Tour. I got carried away and end up with an epic - and this set shows both a 1st pass and a 2nd pass on top of it....it probably only makes sense to me. Especially after my markers and pens started dying on me....
